Avril Lavigne was born in Belleville, Ontario[13][14] to a devoutChristian family.[15][16]. Lavigne's musical talent was first spotted at the age of two when her mother says Lavigne began singing along with her on church songs. The family moved to Napanee, Ontario, when Lavigne was five years old.

In 1998, Lavigne won a competition to sing with fellow Canadian singer Shania Twain on her first major concert tour. She appeared alongside Twain at her concert in Ottawa, appearing on stage to sing "What Made You Say That".

She was discovered by her first professional manager, Cliff Fabri, while singing country covers at a Chapters bookstore in Kingston, Ontario.[13] During a performance with the Lennox Community Theatre, Lavigne was spotted by local folk singer Steve Medd (a relation of the influential Canadian journalist, Ben Medd), who invited her to sing on his song "Touch the Sky" for his 1999 album Quinte Spirit. She also sang on "Temple of Life" and "Two Rivers" for his follow up album, My Window to You, in 2000.[13]

At the age of sixteen she was signed by Ken Krongard, the artists-and-repertoire (A&R) representative of Arista Records, who invited the head of Arista, Antonio "L.A." Reid, to hear her sing at the New York City studio of producer Peter Zizzo.[13] She then completed work on her first album, Let Go. The Matrix, who worked extensively with Lavigne on the album, commented on her songwriting, saying, "We conceived the ideas on guitar and piano. Avril would come in and sing a few melodies, change a word here or there."[17]

Spears in Tears After Lawyer Meeting

Kevin Federline and Britney Spears
HOLLYWOOD - Troubled pop star Britney Spears fled her lawyer's office in tears on Wednesday after a meeting to discuss her custody battle with ex-husband Kevin Federline.

The 25-year-old singer and Federline's divorce was finalized last month, with the couple agreeing to joint custody of their sons Sean Preston, 23 months, and Jayden James, 11 months.

However, following Spears' erratic behavior in recent weeks, Federline is now seeking full custody of the two boys and has subpoenaed her assistant Alli Sims, her former sidekick Shannon Funk, and her bodyguard Daimon Shippen to testify in the case.

Spears met with her lawyer Laura Wasser in Los Angeles on Wednesday and was photographed crying as she left.

Later that evening, Spears met up with Las Vegas magician Criss Angel to discuss a possible collaboration at the forthcoming MTV Music Video Awards.

Caridee English winner of America's next top model

Caridee english born 1985 won the name of the America's next top model cycle 7.

As winner of the acting challenge in Cycle 7, CariDee had an opportunity to guest-star in an episode of the hit CW series One Tree Hill (which airs immediately following Top Model).[6] Compared to past acting challenge winners, CariDee had a bigger role in that episode.[citation needed]

During the acting challenge, CariDee confessed to previously being suicidal, and later won the acting challenge. Also, in another episode, she was criticised for making an impulsive yet crude joke to fashion photographer and ANTM judge Nigel Barker during the bullfighting photo shoot in Barcelona, although CariDee has stated that "he actually joked back" and was never really mad. In panel, she took out a note and apologized to Barker.[3] While participating in the "Water Nymphs" photo shoot, she suffered hypothermia symptoms from floating in icy cold water for a long period of time; CariDee has attributed it to her drug's side effects, which include lowering of the immune system[7].

There was a small bit of controversy regarding her on the show as well: Though she was shown speaking to her boyfriend on the phone in one episode, a few episodes later - when the girls were overseas in Barcelona - she was shown getting passionate with one of the male models the girls worked with. CariDee has interviewed saying that during that point, she and her boyfriend were seeing other people, and had since gotten back together.

Throughout the competition, the judges found much controversy in CariDee's personality, which was considered notably more outgoing than that of the other contestants. She was noted for her striking comparability to Rebecca Romijn and Karolína Kurková. In the early stages of the cycle, her personality was considered fun and outgoing, most notably during her "hiding dizzily" at a panel challenge. Later on, however, the judges began to express concern that it may be a little too bombastic. Because of this, the judges were unsure as to whether she was the person they wanted to represent Top Model, noting in the cycle's finale that she was sometimes too unpredictable and unstable.
